Want to come to launch Canada 2026?
Everyone is welcome to come see the rockets launch, attend the conference, and experience Canada’s premier rocket competition. There is no fee to attend as a spectator but there are a few pieces of important information. Here’s how you can visit the launch site and the conference center
Step 1: Participation Waiver
Rockets are somewhat dangerous, and we need to make sure everyone is safe when they visit. Please fill out the following waiver for every person attending the launch site and conference.
Step 2: Getting there
Conference: August 15-16 from 08:30 - 18:00
The student conference is held at the Archie Dillon sportsplex and features student presentations, keynote speakers from industry, and raffle gift prizes. You’ll have a chance to meet the teams and inspect their rockets and technology up-close. Outreach is a big part of growing the Canadian space industry!
Launch Site: August 17-20 from 08:00 - 18:00
The launch site is located approximately one and a half hours to the south-west of Timmins, ON located at 47° 59′ 27.89" N 81° 51′4.47" W.
You can bring your personal vehicle if you would like, but please note that a significant portion of the route to the site is on gravel logging road, so a high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended. The launch site is highly remote and dress appropriately. Boots, long sleeves, sun screen, water, and snacks are recommended. There is limited to no cell service.
Alternatively we will also have a shuttle bus running from the Timmins Metro to the launch site several times a day. The schedule is linked below.
Directions to the Launch Site are as follows:
Leaving from Timmins:
1. Leave Timmins on route 101 heading west
2. Turn left (heading south) onto route 144, it is after the Timmins West Mine
3. Turn right (heading west) onto Kenogamissi Falls Rd W.
a. Note that it is unclear if Kenogamissi Falls Rd. is the name of the road on both sides of Rte 144. Google maps indicates Kenogamissi Falls Rd. heading east away from Rte 144 and the road toward the launch site heading west away from Rte 144 is unlabelled. This document refers to the west heading road as Kenogamissi Falls Rd. W.
4. Travel along Kenogamissi Falls Rd. W. to the launch site.
a. If you reach the north-south running road, you have just passed the launch site
b. There will be signs posted for Launch Canada and Thunderstock Outfitters
Step 3: what to expect
Once you arrive on site, road control volunteers will greet you and point you to the spectator parking area.
The public viewing area is located right next to a giant inflatable rocket, so keep your eye out for that.
There will be a public viewing area at the launch site with tables, shade and a food truck (Mon-Wed). Guests will be able to watch the student teams launch their rockets throughout the day, and follow the action on a big screen TV showing the Launch Canada livestream. This will allow visitors to see up close footage from our ground and aerial cameras while staying safely within the public area. As the rockets launch, guests can watch the rocket soar into the sky!
